The Story
Back to the root cellar.
A few years ago, I started noticing something strange. Everyone around me was trying to get healthier, but the things we were reaching for didn't really feel healthy. Energy drinks with better branding. Supplements with fifty ingredients. Wellness products that felt more like chemistry than nature.
I became fascinated with a place called Elliston in Newfoundland — known as the root cellar capital of the world. For generations, people there stored their food underground. Potatoes, carrots, herbs, preserves. Real ingredients that lasted through the long winters. Not because it was trendy. Because it worked.
So I started experimenting. Ginger steeped slowly in water. Chamomile from local markets. Citrus and herbs that tasted alive instead of manufactured. At first it was just something I made for friends. But people kept asking for it again. Not because it had a label. Because it felt good to drink.
That moment became the seed for Root Cellar.
